This past week of therapy has been intense.  I have been working hard each day with my walking; it seems to be getting better each time.  This week the therapist made me use a walker instead of the parallel bars.  Walking with the walker was different to say the least.  In the future when I’m fitted for braces, which will be in a few weeks, I’ll be walking with special crutches.  The braces are mostly for the house though because walking with them is pretty strenuous and tiring.  This week I was able to convince my Dad into getting a membership at the YMCA.  This way we are both able to go to the gym together and work out.  This weekend one of my best friends Mike came up from Florida to visit.  It was so great to see him and spend time with.  We’ve been hanging out mostly around the house got a chance to hit the gym with him today.  Mike has never seen snow yet so I was excited for him to come up and get a chance to see it.  The Florida boy got off the plane and it was three degrees out.  I couldn’t help but laugh.  My new bed should be coming in this week I can’t wait! The hospital bed can’t be gone any sooner.  I have a full week ahead of me, therapy and a few other appointments.  On this road to recovery I’m going to need patience but I know in my heart and soul I’m going to make it.  I’m determined to make it.

I wish everyone a great week this week and nothing but blessings and love.  I ask for continued prayers of health and recovery.

  1. This is all GREAT stuff, Shane!!!! You are truly blessed to be such a strong man with so many friends supporting you every phase of this journey!!! I am particularly happy to hear tonight that you have talked your Dad into joining the Y. He will like it there and it will be great for you both to workout together….I will have to warn him, what happens at the Y stays at the Y!!!! I go there every day, and it is NOT a pretty site when I am done!!!!! Prayers every day for your continued speedy recovery and positive attitude !!!!! Patti Hill

  2. Shane, you are already making it in my book. God bless you. Thank you for sharing what God is doing in your life. It’s an inspiration to us all.

  3. The Almighty is alive and well. Praise God and continued prayers.
Not to rub it in BUT it’s 72 degrees in the old South Florida neighborhood!

  4. Dear Shane, you continue to inspire me with your strength and faith! You are getting stronger every day and we all KNOW you’re going to make it and walk on your own one day soon. Joining the “Y” sounds like a great plan, takes you out of a PT environment for a while – you are a conqueror! We continue to pray for you and your family daily and always look forward to your inspiring news. I will gather some pictures from previous B-Day parties when you and my daughters were little so you will know who we are. Please remind your mom that we are here for her should she need anything while in Miami. Keep On Truckin’ (an old Hippie motto), love you!

  5. Patience is rare in my vocabulary, working hard at being better. Sending you prayers and support.

The weeks may seem long, however, look where you were and where you are today! Take a look in the mirror, give praise to God, then pat yourself on the back for a job well done. He only helps those that help themselves.

I truly enjoy your story. Many more wonderful days ahead.

  6. Good to hear from you bud, all seems to be falling into place for you according to your present. I love to read your enthusiasm and will power plus your God given never-ending contagious courage. I honestly know that God also has something super-super special awaiting for you, I believe He is getting you ready for it, work hard, Iam exited for you!!!!

  7. Hello Shane. I work with your Mom and I’ve been following this blog since you were in the hospital and we were all offering our prayers for your recovery.
