Friday Morning Update 10-5-2012 from Dad

Shane had a good night last night! He still has a slight fever that they are monitoring, but it is not a matter of concern. At 10:30am this morning they removed the air-tube; praise God!! They are watching him very closely and he is doing well: this is huge with getting on the road to recovery.

Shane is a very strong young man not just physically but in his passion for life. His normal approach is to press the envelope and push things to the extreme. There is little doubt he will face the obstacles before him head on and with a positive veangeance: that is our prayer.

The journey of the next couple of days will be challenging with him starting to be aware of his physical state, surroundings, and making some sense with what is happening in his life. We are standing on the reality that “he can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens him”! We are praying for wisdom for us, his attending medical staff, and for those who will be working to meet his needs.

Along with the air tube out they have removed the neck brace: he was indicating it was uncomfortable. He has never been shy with what he feels and he has found a way to express his wishes: I know this comes as no surprise to anyone. He has been on a tremendous amount of sedatives to keep him calm through this whole process; it will take several hours for many of them to wear off. They have gone to the next level of medications to assist him in getting through the next phase and to keep him calm.

Thanks again for your outpouring of love, concern, and continued prayer; words cannot express our gratitude!!

  1. We are thankful and happy to hear the news that he has turned another page in his recovery. Just knowing Shane, we are confident that he will be able to face his challenges with the love and support of his family and many friends. Shane and all of you are constantly in our prayers and we look forward to hearing about his improvements daily. Love to everyone.

  2. This is great news. And you are so right about the personality that lives within Shane! Certainly, the medical staff has the wisdom and the compassion to care for your child. thank God for each and every one of them. Being able to see him breathe on his own has to bring you all so much comfort…that, in itself is such a huge thing!
    We continue to pray for strength for all of you as Shane’s recovery moves to the next level.
    I know you know that all of us who love you are holding you up in prayer.
    All three of your kids are so spirited and have always had an excitement and passion for life….Shane is strong and hard headed (in the best possible way) and one of the nicest people I know….

  5. Amazing how in the blink of an eye, miracles are measured in tiny victories. The transition from these drugs can create hallucinations in addition to the confusion. Telling him where he is, who is there and what day it is, what time it is, all help Shane to organize his thoughts. Praying for your strength as you stand next to him and provide support and love. Sonja

  12. If you look carefully at the pictures of Shane above, it is so clear how much he enjoys life and his family. To be surrounded with such joy is one of life’s sweetest blessings. Another very powerful blessing is the healing that comes from God. We pray that God will continue to cradle Shane in his arms, lift him up spiritually, and heal every cell in his body.

    P.S. I found this short prayer & adapted it in case anyone is interested while in prayer.
    Dear Lord,
    I ask you to turn Shane’s weakness into strength, his suffering into compassion, his sorrow into joy, and his pain into comfort. May your servant, Shane, trust in your goodness and hope in your faithfulness, even in the middle of his suffering. Let him be filled with patience and joy in your presence as he waits for your healing touch.

    Please restore Shane to full health, dear Father. Remove all fear and doubt from his heart by the power of your Holy Spirit, and may you, Lord, be glorified through his life.

    As you heal and renew Shane, Lord, may he bless and praise you.

    All of this I pray in the name of Jesus Christ.

  14. For the past several years, this prayer has been my salvation…..and now I pray it for all of you….Blessings and love…..
    “Be at Peace”
    Do not look forward in fear to the changes in life;
    rather, look to them with full hope that as they arise,
    God, whose very own you are,
    will lead you safely through all things;
    and when you cannot stand it,
    God will carry you in His arms.

    Do not fear what may happen tomorrow;
    the same understanding Father who cares for you today
    will take care of you then and every day.

    He will either shield you from suffering
    or will give you unfailing strength to bear it.
    Be at peace,
    and put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations.

  23. My mind is flooded with so many wonderful thoughts of Shane; his tenacity, his humor, his zest for life…all of which will serve him well as he fights this difficult fight. Know how much love is directed to the entire Mosko family as you surround Shane, and rest assured that we are lifting you all up in prayer.

  24. Hi guys I would expect nothing less of Shane than to show that he is a fighter. Great news he can be without the assistance, I’s sure its normal he won’t sit still for the news no kid would mine included. Hopefully it won’t be too long before he can go without the sedation and focus on getting his life back. Prayers coming your way every day.
